Abstract (EN):
Guided Tissue Regeneration (GTR) is widespread and accepted as an excellent alternative therapy in periodontology and oral implantology. However, there still remain clinical situations for which these procedures do not have predictable results. Several risk factors for developing complications in GTR have been studied. This study had as main objective to present a clinical case of a male patient, with 34 years old and with recurrent failure of GTR surgery on the anterior maxillary sector. A research was carried out on PubMed database, without time limitation, and also in the OMIM database and PUCMINAS, PUCPR. Forty-three articles have been used. According to some researchers, we can assume that, eventually, there may be patients with genotype of increased risk to trigger an exaggerated inflammatory response against bacterial contamination of membranes and various materials of GTR. Therefore, it has been suggested that gene polymorphisms encoding inflammatory cytokines might set the outcome of GTR.
