Objetivos
By the end of C1.2/English 6 students should be able to do the following:
1. Communicate with the emphasis on how well it is done, in terms of appropriacy, sensitivity and the capacity to deal with unfamiliar topics
2. Contribute effectively to classes and tutorials with a good degree of accuracy, fluency and range of expression, coping with abstract topics.
3. R ead quickly enough to cope with an academic course, read the media for information and understand non-standard correspondence.
4. Research and write an academic esay on comparing and contrasting and/or cause and effect, involving inferring meaning from charts and graphs.
5. Dissecting essay questions for meaning.
6. Write an abstract for an academic paper.

1. Language: Persuasion and Critical thinking.
2. A Global Connection - cross-cultural communication.
3. A study of British televised comedy.
C1.2 GRAMMAR:
1. Relative clauses and Participle clauses.
2. Pronouns, substitution and ellipsis.
3. Adjectives and adverbs: Position, Gradable and Non-Gradable.
4. Adverbial Clauses and Conjunctions; Conditionals.
5. Prepositions, Prepositional verbs and nouns.
6. Organising Information: Fronting and Inversion.
C1.2 SKILLS WORK:
1. Listening: Critical thinking - reflecting on cultural aspects of persuasion. Note-taking from a lecture.
2. Reading: Finding implied meaning from a text. Interpreting information from charts and graphs.
3 Speaking: Tutorial participation skills. Explaining grammar features of your own language. Cross cultural discussion of common beliefs and practices.
4. Writing: Summary / précis writing. Writing a curriculum vitae and a letter applyng for a job. Abstracts and introductions. Describing charts and graphs.
