Maria de Jesus Sanches is an Associate Professor of Porto University, Portugal (Faculty of Arts) with 39 years of experience in teaching and researching Prehistoric Archaeology, including rock art. She also has particular interest in rescue archeology related to multidisciplinary landscape studies . PhD in Archaeology and Prehistory (1995) and Aggregation in Prehistoric Art (2006). Master Course Director: 2008-2010; 2018-current date; Doctorate Course Director in Archaeology : 2010-2017. She has directed and participated in various archaeological research projects [megalithic constructions, settlements, rock art and spatial archaeology] in close relation with the respective paleo-ecosystems, particularly in the North of Portugal. She has authored well over a hundred papers, book chapters and five books in recent Prehistory. She has directed musealization projects of the archaeological sites of Crasto de Palheiros and Mamoa do Castelo (Murça, Portugal).Currently she is the scientific leader of two projects of valorisation and dissemination of archaeological heritage & heritage education: ESCARPARTE —Experiencing the escarpments of the Serra de Passos/Santa Comba.
