Award of credits

Recognition of prior learning and experience

• Prior vocational training within other Portuguese or foreign courses of study, as well as lifelong learning courses;
• Relevant professional experience in a certain field of study.

Proceedings:

Students seeking recognition of prior learning and experience shall submit a one-time request online. Exceptionally, there may be a second period to repeat a request insofar as the student is still in vocational training while the intended course of study is ongoing. Requests for recognition of prior learning and experience shall be made upon enrolment, via academic record, in Options -> Recognition-> Requests for Recognition -> Create Request for Recognition.

Necessary documents:

• Transcript of qualifications, mentioning every curricular unit and respective scores;
• Study plans and contact hours of curricular units;
• Curriculum Vitae (EuroPass model) for the purpose of awarding credits to professional experience. Training certificates, course certificates or certificates of other activities shall be annexed.
• All documents shall be authenticated, scanned and annexed in the online application form.
• Training completed at U.Porto, regardless of the field of study or school, does not require certified documentation

Payment

Requests for recognition of prior learning and experience (equivalences) and of previous curricular units have the following cost, as per the table of fees

• Request (except for reinstatements) - ¤50,00
• One-time request to award credits to single curricular units (including reinstatements) - ¤25,00
• Re-evaluation of the credit awarding procedures regarding prior learning - ¤80,00
• Request for recognition of/credit awarding to professional experience - ¤200,00
