Objectives

This subject focuses mainly on the practical acquisition of the Dutch language. Special emphasis is placed on communication skills. The subject also offers a historical and current overview of the Dutch and Flemish cultures.

Program

LANGUAGE
Firstly, this subject aims at the practical acquisition of the language. Special emphasis is placed on communication skills, both oral and written.
The study of grammar is limited to the requirements set up by Nederlandse Taalunie for the elementary level (Basiskennis). During the second semester, students will learn interjections, the passive form, and differences between verb tenses in Portuguese and Dutch.

CULTURE
Illustrated overview of Dutch literature. Analysis of a Dutch novel (translated into Portuguese). History of Dutch pop music as a reflection of socio-cultural changes since 1945.
