Objectives
- To further the linguistic knowledge acquired throughout the first year.
- To study other aspects of lexicon, grammar and syntax.
- To practice the Arabic Language.
- To analyze aspects of Arabic and Islamic culture through literary texts (accounts of journeys, press articles…)

Introduction
General review of the thematic contents of the 1st year.
- Interrogative expressions
- Prepositions
- Regular verbs (present and past)
- Negatives
I. Lexicon and reading comprehension
- Reading texts and dialogues in Arabic concerning several topics
- Give intelligible answers (written and spoken)
- Role-play of dialogues in Arabic in the classroom.
- Writing a letter in Arabic.
II. Grammatical aspects
- Conjugation of regular and irregular verbs in the present, past, future and imperative and their use within the context of communication.
- Negative expressions in the Arabic language.
- Characteristics of the verbal phrase and the nominative phrase.
- Genders of nouns and adjectives.
Culture Programme
I. Cultural and religious diversity in the Arabic and Islamic world.
- Characteristics of the Magreb countries (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Libya)
- Mashriq countries (Middle East and Persian Gulf)
II. Aspects of Arabic and Islamic Culture through literature and accounts of journeys.
1. Myth of the Harem in the West by Fatima El Mernissi.
2. Introduction to Fatima El Mernissi the writer.
3. Shahrazad and Fatima El Mernissi: symbols of cultural plurality within the Arabic world.
4. The significance of the textual and spiritual journey for interculturality.
5. The role of Shahrazad in the Thousand and One Nights
6. The concept of Harem in the West and in the East
7. The harem in Western painting
