A. PORTUGAL: FROM LIBERALISM TO THE REPUBLIC
1.Instauration of Liberalism
1.1 The revolution of 1820. Internal and external conditions. The Constitution of 1822.
1.2 The coup of Vilafrancada and the return to absolutism.
1.3 The 1826 Constitutional Charter.
1.4 Miguelistas and Liberals. The 1832-34 civil war.
1.5 Cartistas and Setembristas (1834-1851): the Revolution of September 1836; Cabralismo; the coups of Maria da Fonte and Patuleia; the 1848 European revolutionary conjuncture and the Portuguese society.
2. Regeneration.
