2.1.2. Gerhard Hauptmann, by Bahnwärter Thiel.
2.2. Anti-naturalist trends: Impressionism, Symbolism, Aestheticism, Decadentism, Neo-romanticism, Neo-classicism.
2.2.1. The fin-de-siécle lyric: Hugo von Hofmannsthal, Rainer Maria Rilke, Stefan Georg.

Specific critical readings for each of the topics of study will be recommended in the course of the semester.

Teaching methods and learning activities

Introduction to contexts concerning the production and authors of the literary works under study, followed by the analysis and interpretation of selected texts. Emphasis is given to the theoretical-practical component, encouraging active student participation.

Software

Presentation of documentaries (using video tapes and music cassettes) regarding the subject matters comprised in this programme.

The final mark is calculated from the average sum of the marks obtained in each one of the questions covered in the written exam.
