Objectives
Deepen knowledge of the Contemporary Political History of Portugal, from Vintismo to the end of the Estado Novo regime:
- Acquire the fundamental concepts underlying the subject of the course, as well as some biographical paths of its main actors;
- Understand the Portuguese historical context and its evolution over a century and a half, in an international comparative perspective;
- Promote interest in self-employment among trainees.

- Learn and apply basic concepts related to the subject of the course
- Knowing institutions, agents and facts related to the historical and political context of contemporary Portugal;
- Use and evaluate research resources that enhance historical research.

- Political, economic and social structures at the end of the “Antigo Régime”;
- French invasions and transfer of the Portuguese Court to Brazil;
- Liberal Revolution of 1820 and the independence of Brazil;
- The difficult implantation of Liberalism.From Miguelism to the civil war (1834/1851);
- Regeneration and Promotion;
- Economic and social structures; market, population and emigration;
- New doctrines and systems: socialism, Iberianism, republicanism.

- With an expository part, most sessions will take place in the form of theoretical-practical classes, which aim to familiarize trainees with the essential notions related to each of the themes of the program, favoring the discussion of the themes presented.
