Objectives

To find and use various types of historical and iconographic sources and doctrinal documents relevant to the topic to study.

To deepen knowledge on a specific theme.

To analyze in an integrated way the art and/or heritage object.

Develop a research methodology and presentation of the object of study. Produce integrated knowledge about the object of study.

Learning outcomes and competences

At a first time this UC, intends to support students competencies in research, development, organization and interpretation of data. In a second time pretendes to support critical review and theoretical framework of the work and their application to the theme under analisys.


The student must prepare a dissertation, internship report or project report, of a scientific nature, which will be appreciated and discussed in public act by a jury appointed for that purpose. The preparation of the final document will be followed and discussed by the advisor (s) throughout the OT sessions.

  1. Bibliographic, iconographic and documentary research.

  2. Comparative analysis of documentary and iconographic sources.

  3. Critical review of the literature and texts presented by the student

  4. Reflection on the problems, theoretical and practical issues of the study.

  5. Discussion of the methodologies to be applied and research models;

  6. Writing a Dissertation / Internship Report / Project Report.

The reading will be indicated by each supervisor according to the research topic to be performed by each student.

Teaching methods and learning activities

The debate is the essence of this course because it seeks to deepen strategies already developed in the UC of the 1st year. The presentation, discussion and defense of the theme being developed is intended in the OT sessions (50% of evaluation). This course evaluates written work that is produced throughout the year (50% of evaluation). It seeks to clarify the thesis, internship report or project report structure in the oral presentation.

Presentation and submission of dissertation, project report or internship report, and its appreciation



  1.  The dissertation, project report or internship report should be between 50 and 120 pages, excluding attachments, appendices and bibliography.

  2. The dissertation, the project report or the internship report must be submitted in digital format, and the student must upload the respective file and curriculum vitae in SIGARRA, according to the templates available in SIGARRA in the area of the documents of the

  3. The dissertation, project work or internship report must be submitted in Turnitin (on the Moodle platform): tool for verifying the originality of scientific works and validated by the respective advisor.

  4. After submission of documents in SIGARRA, the student must submit the request for tests, respecting the academic calendar approved annually.

  5. The dissertation, the project report or the internship report, as well as the respective cover and cd with the recording of the work (final version), must be presented according to the templates available in SIGARRA in the course documents area.


We recommend submitting the dissertation, project report or internship report during the normal evaluation period.
