Objectives

To understand the evolution of the administrative structures of the Portuguese territory and the articulation between the different powers (both religious and secular) over time.

To comprehend how the information resulting from the process of territorial structuring reached the present time and how it is organized (or not) in public and private archives.

To acquire theoretical and methodological knowledge that allows to respond to individual research projects.

Learning outcomes and competences

Throughout the sessions, it is expected that students gain skills in investigating sources related with administrative structures in temporal and spatial scales, and how to identify and contextualize its caracteritics.

It is therefore expected that students recognise the general features of the administrative strutures in order to understand some of the constraints that shaped the heritage, whether on a national, regional or local scale.
