In this curricular unit students are introduced to the study of Ancient Civilizations. Students should know and identify the main civilizational features (economy, society, technology, politics, religion and art) that mark the route of human societies of the Near East and the Eastern Mediterranean as well as their impact on the European Continent.
Learning outcomes and competences
The syllabus of the curricular unit will be developed using one of the following means, which will allow students to acquire knowledge, concepts and lexicons as well as to develop competences and attitudes:
- Exhibition of nuclear themes of the Curricular Unit supported by audiovisual material.
- Mandatory reading of reference works;
- Reading and analysis of excerpts of works or articles;
- Training the identification and analysis of concepts, schemes and specific records.
- Individual and collective research through guided reading on predefined topics (books, articles, Internet).
- Preparation of reading chips of articles or book chapters.
- Motivation of oral participation and critical discussion of the contents of the curricular unit.
The sequence of subjects covered should enable the student to understand the conceptual foundations of this unit and to contextualize the multiple pieces of information that make up the various themes that integrate it.
