Objectives

Given that the purpose of this curricular unit is an introductory contact with the main themes of political science, the program points out and develops a set of issues that seek to provide the student:
- a systemic and historical view of politics from ancient times to the present.
- fundamental concepts for a better understanding of the political phenomenon
- ability to analyze, interpret and explain political events and events

Learning outcomes and competences

After completing this curricular unit, students should be able to:
- understand what Political Science is, as well as its importance;
- relate and apply to the political and social reality the concepts studied, differentiating and characterizing typical situations;
- to critically appraise acquired knowledge, in the face of new contemporary realities, developing autonomously models of understanding;
- apply the knowledge acquired, taking into account their practice and their professional and academic interests.

Teaching methods and learning activities

Theoretical-practical classes aiming to structure the methodological, historical and theoretical-conceptual contents of the curricular unit, with space for clarification of doubts and pertinent interventions on each of the points of the program.

Tutorial orientation of the study with the purpose of assessing the degree of assimilation of the subject taught, through the preparation of reports on the themes and works that compose the bibliography.

Calculation formula of final grade

- one written test (weight of 30%)

 - written  reports on individual research about the issues of the program and the texts of obligatory reading  (weight of 60%)  - each student must have a total of 4 reports at the end of the semester

Participation in the classes - 10%

obligatory presence of 50% in classes

 

Classification improvement

Components susceptible to appeal and improvement of classification: written test (weighting of 30% in the final grade of the course unit).
