1. Further develop the ability to characterize and interpret the social, economic and political events, phenomena and dynamics in the contemporary period; 2. Develop scientific skills for the study of the contemporary period, through bibliographic research and critical reading, and by selecting, analyzing and interpreting primary sources; 3. Develop a comparative analysis of historical phenomena in the contemporary period, by integrating the Portuguese reality with the peninsular, European and global contexts; 4. Plan and develop a research project in contemporary history.
1. Identification of the main archives and/or potential websites for research.
2. Mastery of the main primary research sources in Contemporary History.
- Scientific knowledge of the nuclear themes of Portuguese, European and World History.
Discussion and follow-up of specific research projects developed by students.
Bibliographical references will be provided by the lecturer according to the specific research topics chosen by students.
Presentation by the lecturer of theoretical and methodological issues and other contents included in the course program, with the support of texts and graphic, statistical or other material, promoting, whenever possible, the participation of students in the critical discussion of the presented issues, as well as debates concerning the problems stemming from the research projects being developed by students.

The final mark corresponds to the mark awarded to the Research Report.
