Objectives

At the end of this UC it is expected that students are able to develop a work project aimed at integrating and applying knowledge, skills and attitudes acquired during the course. It is an applied research project, aimed at integrating and applying knowledge, skills and attitudes acquired during the course to problem solving.

The work should promote the development of capacities of initiative, decision-making, innovation, creative and critical thinking. Should involve the collection of information, analysis, selection of methodological approaches and resolution tools of the problem, its resolution, exercise of synthesis and drawing conclusions, and the preparation of a relevant dissertation subject to public presentation and discussion of results.

Learning outcomes and competences

The UC is to develop an individual work of applied research aimed at the integration and application of knowledge, skills and attitudes acquired during the SC. The design process aims to promote the development and strengthening of research capacity, initiative, decision, following methods in content organization and writing of a scientific project with practical application.
The route and the individual student's progress is always on the scope of the advisor project, which discusses the data, methodologies, results and facilitates contacts with other researchers and institutions, if necessary.

The final project report and its submission, intends to develop in students the knowledge and skills necessary to prepare a research project to train it for public presentation and discussion of the results of their work.

There is no specific syllabus, since the students will look into multiple research topics applied centered in the project they will develop, covering various fields of knowledge relating to the course.

Teaching methods and learning activities

In this UC there are no formal classes. Periodically, the student are advise to meet with the thesis supervisor to assess the progress of the project and have opinions about the following steps.

The project is individual, but it can be developed within a broader research team.

At the end of the 1st semester is held a session with the students, taking stock of the progress of individual research. Each student is motivated to present what has already executed, to discuss ideas and to define what is missing.

Calculation formula of final grade

The project classification is defined by the weighted assessment by the jury of the following criteria:

- Quality of work (structure, correctness, clarity, style, etc.;

- State of the art quality and their suitability to project goals;

- Quality (correction, depth and expertise) written report;

- Depth and innovation of the project;

- Critical analysis of the quality of contribution and results;

- Quality of the oral presentation and argumentation in public discussion.
