Objectives
• To develop students’ ability to read and interpret written historical sources of medieval and modern times; • To enable students to scientifically transcribe original texts of different types and to prepare their briefs; • To provide students with theoretical knowledge to enable them to examine the internal characteristics of the documents; • To provide students with theoretical knowledge to enable them to examine the external characteristics of the documents; • To enable students to answer specific questions stemming from research practice with primary sources, including identifying writing agents and sites, the time period when the acts were carried out, the purpose of the different texts, etc.; • To develop analytical and synthetic skills, and present research findings
Learning outcomes and competences
The program, giving students the ability to transcribe different scripts and documents, provides the elements considered essential for a reading and interpretation of various historical sources written

Being integrated in a post-graduation course, it is recommended that students have had some contact with paleographic practices.

Observations
It is recommended that the Students have basic knowledge of Medieval Paleography.
Since it is a course essentially based on practical work of transcription, it is essential
to attend in class.
