German Literature II
Instance: 2015/2016 - 2S
Cycles of Study/Courses
Teaching language
Portuguese
Objectives
The choice of an anthological program which focuses on the period from exile to contemporaneity allows treating significant texts of some German speaking authors with varying degrees of canonicity. The choice of works of different genres, subgenres and styles makes it easy to provide the students with tools that increase their analytical and critical capacity; it will also contribute to reinforce previous knowledge in relation to matters within the aesthetic and the literary. For a better understanding of the literary phenomenon, the study of the texts will be framed by a presentation of socio-historical, cultural and aesthetic-literary contexts.
Learning outcomes and competences
At the end of the semester students should have increased their knowledge in the field of German literature. They should be able to analyse the texts dealt in class in a literary-cultural perspective. They should be able to understand texts and to write a critical-interpretative text that takes in account not only the text as an open structure, but also all contextualizing information they have studied. They should increase their expository skills.
