Objectives

Aims: To pass the CU students must be able to: 1 – Summarise information on today’s world, relating where we live to the globalised context; 2 – Recognise localities and regions as parts of a global system that is constantly changing; 3 – Analyse the interaction between global processes and their local manifestations in economic, political and cultural term; 4 – Interpret some of the problems of today’s world; 5 – Demonstrate an understanding of the value of different cultures and societies; 6 – Develop critical and reflective attitudes;

The course unit involves 3 kinds of classes: a) Expository classes (TP); b) Classes that focus on reflective exercises (2 small essays done by the students individually or in groups of two (TP); c) Discussion classes on topics suggested in advance by the lecturer and as preparation for the students’ presentations (Tutorials - OT).
