Objectives

- Understand and supervise the activities of museums in the context of Information Society and technological mediation: from the "real" museum to the "virtual" museum.

- Know the theoretical and methodological principles applied to the study, analysis and evaluation of information management, regardless its nature, stage of life cycle, production process or media on which it is registered.

- Understand the information and communication technologies used in the production, storage, use, communication, long-term preservation and permanent access to information in museum contexts and evaluate the main impact areas (information management, access and communication).

- Acquire the ability to evaluate and apply available information and communication technologies, according to the techniques, rules and other tools related to the development of activities in the museums context.

Teaching methods and learning activities

Theoretical-practical lectures with discussion and students active participation. Presentation of case studies, projects and relevant activities related with the use of ICT in museums.
