Objectives

The aim of this program is to analyse images of masculinity present in the literary discourse of various ages and in different genres, from the perspective of 'new men's studies', as a way of rethinking the categories, models and myths.
At the end of the semester students should have acquired theoretical knowledge and developed analytical skills that enable them to identify, understand and critically discuss different constructions and deconstructions of masculinity in literary texts. As a result, students must submit a written and /or oral project of a literary text analysis which is innovative and independently produced, showing the area of skills outlined above.

Program

The new men's studies will assert itself from the 80s onwards as a field of independent research, the target of numerous and varied approaches of different orientations, among which we highlight the nature literary. This seminar aims to observe the construction / deconstruction of images, stereotypes and myths of masculinity, with the object of study texts of European literature, selected according to a specific thematic
