Objectives
- Understand and organizationally contextualize the preservation and conservation of information/documents – the transversality, the complementarity and the global evolvement.
- Acquire the theoretical and methodological principles oriented to the study, analysis and evaluation of the processes related with the preservation and conservation of information, independently of the information nature, the information lifecycle stadium, the production method or the medium of storage.
- Acquire the theoretical and methodological principles oriented to the preservation, conservation and information long-term access, considering the methods of acquisition/production, selection, organization, representation, retrieval and use of information.
- Acquire the knowledge related to the Information and Communication Technologies in the context of the information long-term preservation.
- Acquire the competences and abilities to perform the technical procedures, standards and other tools related with information long-term preservation and access.
- Understand and apply the techniques of management and evaluation of information management systems oriented to the long-term preservation.
- Apply and correctly use the technologies, considering them as a non dissociated component of the long-term preservation and access processes and strategies.

Teaching methods and learning activities
Theoretical lectures with discussion and students active participation.
Research works will be presented as a written report and as an oral presentation. Visits to some institutions will also be considered.
Classes will be supported by audiovisual and multimedia technologies.
