Objectives
The students should acquire competencies to create access points by author/producer of information, by title and by subject, using, in this case, indexing languages (thesauri and classifications); they should also understand and apply authority control techniques for the establishment of access points.

Teaching methods and learning activities
The theoretical classes will have the support of presentations and of several standards used in this curricular unit. In the practical classes will be done application exercises (cataloguing and subject indexing).
The tutorial sessions will be devoted to the clearing up of doubts and the supervision of works.

Eligibility for exams
The presence in the classes (75% obligatory) is considered an indispensable condition to the approval in the curricular unit, according to the evaluation regulations.
Calculation formula of final grade
The evaluation consists on an individual or group (2 students) work and a final examination. Each one of these evaluation components counts 50% for the final classification. The student must have at least 9,5 in each one of the evaluation components.
Special assessment (TE, DA, ...)
The worker students are nor dismissed of anyone of the evaluation assessments.
Classification improvement
The improvement of the classification can be obtained through the reformulation of the work and/or the repetition of the final examination.
