Objectives
Project’s program and goals are variable depending on the degree’s branches: Journalism; Public Relations; Multimedia.
On the Preamble of the respective Regulation, one can read:
The curricular unit of Project, from the 3rd year, 2nd semester, of the degree in Communication Sciences: Journalism, Public Relations, Multimedia, common to the three areas of expertise, has the goal of providing the student the necessary education in any of these areas. We seek that the theoretical and practical competences developed throughout the course are applied and complementary, so that this experience becomes an approach of the student to the labour market.
Program
Completing an internship or developing a project within the goals of the Regulation for this subject, approved by the degree’s Scientific Commission.

1 | 1st FORTNIGHT:
. Mandatory attendance in workshops (Programming; PHP; JavaScript; Action-Script; (...)).
2 | 2nd FORTNIGHT:
. Mandatory attendance in seminars (Ciberculture; Digital Photography; Animation; (...)).
a) QUARTER (choosing one of the three branches):
a.1) Completing an internship and respective project in institutions approved by the degree’s board.
a.2) Completing an internship, subject to approval, in an institution chosen by the student.
a.3) Completing research work, associated to CETAC or other research laboratory of the University of Porto, as long as approved by LCC’s Scientific Commission (in this case, the report is not necessary).

Eligibility for exams
Completing an internship or developing a project within the goals of the Regulation for this subject.
Multimedia Specifications:
1 | In the end, we hope the student gathers a set of works related to the workshops and seminars which will occur in the first month, as well as a practical work associated to a research report, as a consequence of the subject’s effective three-month attendance.
2 | The final evaluation of each student will be based on works completed on the workshops and seminars, on the project work completed during the internship, on the research report and on the public presentation.
The latter shall have a “poster” format and will be used to disclose the projects internally and externally. The jury will be composed by all of the subject’s teachers.
3 | Evaluation elements and weighted average
a) Theoretical and practical works, achieved in workshops and seminars - 10%;
b) Final project and public presentation (poster) - 40%;
c) Research report - 40%;
d) Professional performance - 10%;
Calculation formula of final grade
Journalism branch:
a) The evaluation is a responsibility of the internship supervisors, who will be followed by the respective coordinator, whose goal is to distribute the several works by the teachers.
b) Evaluation elements: final report and professional performance;
c) The final classification will be obtained after weighing the average of all scores: by the degree’s supervisor (70%), who will evaluate the final report; by all supervisors (30%), who will evaluate the student’s professional performance;
Public Relations branch:
a) The evaluation is a responsibility of the internship supervisors, who will be followed by the respective coordinator, whose goals are to define evaluation parameters and to distribute the several works by the teachers;
b) Evaluation elements: professional performance, final report and follow-up on the work developed;
c) The final classification, a joint responsibility of the degree’s supervisor and the branch’s supervisor, will be obtained after weighing the average of the following components: professional performance (50%), final report (35%) and follow-up on the work developed (15%).
Multimedia branch:
1 | Workshops and Seminars | 10% of the final score
The works will be evaluated in correspondence to the goals defined during sessions.
2 | Project presentation | 40% of the final score
The public presentation of the project will have a poster session format and will be evaluated by all Project teachers, with a possible participation of some expert guests.
The Poster shall sum, in an 68cmx48cm area, what the student developed, bearing in mind the following elements:
a) Identification of LJCC;
b) Title, author, supervisor, date and contacts;
c) Work’s goals;
d) Plan of work;
e) Work developed;
f) Main conclusions/outcomes;
g) Layout in a rigid format;
h) Presentation in digital format (.pdf file with printing resolution);
3 | Research report: 40% of the final score.

4 | Professional performance | 10% of the final score
The evaluation of the professional performance will be an outcome of the weighing of a qualitative assessment from the host institution’s supervisor and the teacher supervisor. It will be based on the following parameters:
a) Assiduity;
b) Punctuality;
c) Work capacity;
d) Team integration;
e) Technical skills;
f) Research;

1 | Calendarization
In mid-February, there will be a meeting between the Project’s supervisor and the finalist students, so as to clarity potential doubts, to present a provisional list of the internship offers and to hand the document “Formulario_Aluno” to inquire about students’ preferences.
2 | Important dates
a) Displaying the final list of internship offers: until January 31st;
b) Workshops: 1st fortnight of the second semester;
c) Seminars: 2nd fortnight of the second semester;
d) Project: from the 1st week of April until June 30th;
e) Workshop and Seminar work delivery: 2nd week of June;
f) Poster delivery: 1st week of July;
e) Project presentation: 2nd week of July;
f) Research report delivery: 2nd week of July or, in special season, until December 1st.
