Abstract (EN): Studies conducted in the recent past revealed that the changes in climate may probably lead to an increment in the mean outdoor temperature, inducing an increment in the cooling energy consumption in indoor environments. The present study estimated the present and the forecasted values of set point temperature and cooling energy consumption for the summer season in the humid region of northwestern Spain. The results of these evaluations revealed a clear increment in the value of outdoor temperature during all the seasons, particularly during spring. Furthermore, the increment in daily cooling energy consumption was similar to 3.2 kWh. This value could be reduced to 60% by employing adaptive models to define the indoor air set point of building air conditioning systems in this region, with solutions based on passive methods.
