Resumo (PT): Tó Trips nasceu em Lisboa, na freguesia do Castelo, em 1966, estando registado em Benfica, onde morou durante a sua infância e juventude, numa rua entre a Praça de Espanha e Sete Rios. Tó tem o rock’n’roll incorporado desde muito cedo, muito por causa do Rock Rendez Vous e do Johnny Guitar. Tó Trips é, manifestamente, um dos músicos portugueses mais interessantes das últimas décadas. Começou nos anos 1980 com os Amen Sacristi e participou nos Santa Maria Gasolina em Teu Ventre!3; nos anos 1990, viveu intensamente os Lulu Blind; nos anos 2000, do encontro feliz com Pedro Gonçalves criou os Dead Combo, participou nos Ladrões do Tempo e tem feito constantes incursões a solo. Conversar com o Tó Trips é fazer uma viagem ao Portugal contemporâneo com paragens no punk/hardcore, na no-wave, no jazz, na guitarra de Carlos Paredes, no noise, na world music. É também fazer uma viagem pelo mundo (do rock), não só pelos seus sons, mas pelas suas imagens, artefactos, cenários. Nesta conversa, que integra o podcast Sons Pe(r)didos e Achados, coordenado por Paula Guerra e realizado pela Casa Comum da Reitoria da Universidade do Porto4, ficamos a conhecer um pouco mais da sua história de vida.

Abstract (EN): Tó Trips was born in Lisbon, in the parish of Castelo, in 1966, and is registered in Benfica, where he lived during his childhood and youth, in a street between Praça de Espanha and Sete Rios. Tó has rock'n'roll incorporated from an early age, much because of Rock Rendez Vous and Johnny Guitar. Tó Trips is clearly one of the most interesting Portuguese musicians of the last decades. He started in the 1980s with Amen Sacristi and participated in Santa Maria Gasolina in Teu Ventre!; in the 1990s, he lived intensely with Lulu Blind; in the 2000s, from the happy meeting with Pedro Gonçalves he created Dead Combo, participated in Ladrões do Tempo and has made constant solo incursions. Talking to Tó Trips is like taking a trip to contemporary Portugal with stops in punk/hardcore, no-wave, jazz, Carlos Paredes' guitar, noise, world music. It's also a journey through the world (of rock), not only because of its sounds, but also because of its images, artefacts, scenarios. In this conversation, which is part of the podcast Sons Pe(r)didos e Achados, coordinated by Paula Guerra and produced by Casa Comum da Reitoria da Universidade do Porto, we get to know a little more about his life story.
