Abstract: Theme focuses on the continuation and rejection of tradition of western artistic music in 20th century. The main goal of the thesis was to demonstrate diversity of attitudes of employed in mentioned institutions artists and art organizers. The research based on in-depth interviews. To capture emerging research problems, research was expanded into three connected areas: audience attitudes to 20th century’s music, statistics of performance of 20th century’s music and desk research on such manifestations of music reception as records stock, radio popularity, and so on. The conclusion of investigation introduces coined concepts about 20th century’s music reception like e.g.: stereotypization, festivalised presence, performativeness and disposability, counter-imaginations and groups of artistical interests.

Ziemowit Socha – sociologist, analyst, lecturer and worker of market research. Main areas of research: sociology of music, economic sociology, research methods. PhD candidate in Institute of Musicology at University of Wroclaw. Participant of research projects for Polish institutions such as Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz, Witold Lutosławski’s Philharmonics in Wroclaw, Karol Szymanowski’s Philharmonic and Polish Musical Council.
