FCT's New Policy on Open Access to Scientific Publications
promotes the visibility of scientific production

Scope of the Policy
This Policy applies to scientific publications resulting from total or partial funding granted by the FCT, namely:
Books, book chapters, monographs, subject to peer review or scientific validation processes.
Scientific articles subject to peer review processes, including review articles and conference papers.
Master's Dissertations and Doctoral Theses.

Example for Dissertation/Thesis: Applying a CC-BY licence

The author must apply a CC-BY licence to their Dissertation/Thesis on the cover page (at the bottom of the page). 
This requirement is met by inserting the icon for that licence, which can be downloaded here and by including the following text:
“This work is licensed under a CC BY 4.0 licence.”

Alternatively, can also select: CC-BY-NC, or CC-BY-ND or CC-BY-NC-ND. In this case, the text must be adapted accordingly and the corresponding licence icon inserted.

CC	Licence	Description
	CC0 Public Domain	Waives all copyright and related rights, placing the work in the public domain. The work may be copied, modified, distributed, and used without permission or attribution.
	CC BY Attribution	Allows others to copy, distribute, display, perform, and create derivative works, provided the original author is appropriately credited.
	CC BY-SA Attribution – ShareAlike	Allows reuse and the creation of derivative works, provided they are shared under the same licence.
	CC BY-ND Attribution – NoDerivatives	Allows redistribution, for commercial and non-commercial purposes, provided the work remains unchanged and the author is credited.
	CC BY-NC Attribution – NonCommercial	Allows reuse and adaptation of the work for non-commercial purposes, with appropriate attribution.
	CC BY-NC-SA Attribution – NonCommercial – ShareAlike	Allows modification and sharing of the work for non-commercial purposes, under the same licence and with attribution.
	CC BY-NC-ND Attribution – NonCommercial – NoDerivatives	Only allows downloading and sharing of the work in its original form, with attribution, for non-commercial purposes.
