Overview
Dr Kathleen Easlick is currently Lecturer in English Studies at the Faculty of Letters, University of Porto (FLUP) and belongs to the Department of Anglo-American Studies. She holds a PhD in Linguistics (University of Manchester) and a Masters in Translation and Interpreting (University of Manchester) and a Bachelor degree in Foreign Languages, Literature, and Linguistics (Southern Illinois University).
She has an interdisciplinary research profile focused on the analysis of language policy in the public and private sector and the provision of language services on the ground, including translation and interpreting. She worked as a postdoctoral research associate with Multilingual Manchester at the University of Manchester. She is a member of the British Association of Applied Linguistics and a member of the Centre for English, Translation and Anglo-Portuguese Studies (CETAPS).
She has taught on a variety of courses within the Department of Linguistics at the University of Manchester, including undergraduate courses in Sociolinguistics, Discourse Analysis, Pragmatics, Language and Mediality, and Comparative World Languages. She has experience teaching in the USA, United Kingdom, and Switzerland. She is an Associate Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy, which recognises commitment to professionalism and teaching excellence.
