Luís Mestre(Luís Miguel Silva Lopes, b. 1974) is a theatre director, dramaturg, actor, translator, professor of Scenic Practices and Analysis of Performing Arts and Theatre and Theatricality at the Master in Theatre Studies at Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto (FLUP), collaborator researcher at Instituto de Literatura Comparada Margarida Losa (ILCML-FLUP) and resident teacher of Theatre and History and Culture of the Arts at Balleteatro Professional School.
PhD candidate in Artistic Studies at Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Coimbra and Master in Theatre Studies at FLUP.
He has translated to portuguese several plays by english and spanish speaking authors.
Has a dramaturg he has received several national and international awards and distinctions. His dramatic texts have been published in diferent occasions and formats, in portuguese, english and spanish, namely his dramatic oeuvre collected in the volume Teatro, with preface by Alexandra Moreira da Silva, and Do precipício tempestuoso de Ricardo III, with preface by António Durães, both published by Húmus.
He is the Artistic Director of Teatro Nova Europa since 2004.
