António Fernando Coelho has been a University Professor since 1996 and a researcher at INESC TEC (formerly INESC Porto), since 1995, currently the coordinator of the Computer Graphics and Virtual Environments area.

The scientific area of Computer Graphics has been the focus of his entire academic career, carried out at FEUP, from his undergraduate degree in 1994, through his Master's thesis on "Integration of 3D Sound in Simulation" in 1997, and his doctoral thesis in "Expeditious Modeling of Virtual Urban Environments Based on Interoperability and Geospatial Awareness" in 2006.

Got his habilitation in 2018, presenting the lesson "The Challenges of Procedural Modeling of Urban Environments" and the course "Introduction to Creative Programming".

His career as a University Professor is focused on the teaching of Computer Graphics, Digital Games and Programming. And the coordinator of several Digital Media projects.

The coauthor of several pedagogical books (in Portuguese):

• Multimédia, Novos Média and Média Digitais, Digimedia Collection, 2021 (available online);
• Introdução à Computação Gráfica, FCA, 2018;
• Scheme na Descoberta da Programação, FEUP Edições, 2011.

He is the co-author of the first book of Introduction to Computer Graphics (in Portuguese).

His research activity focuses on the following areas:

• Computer Graphics: Procedural Modeling, Virtual and Augmented Reality;
• Interactive Digital Media: Digital Games, Gamification, Procedural Content Generation, and Game-Based Learning;
• Geospatial Systems.

He was one of the local chairs of the Organizing Committees of ICGI 2021, EuroVis 2019, Eurographics 2016, SGAMES 2016 e 13º EPCG.
