The Master’s degree in Portuguese and Foreign Languages Teaching is a second cycle which seeks the acquisition of the necessary pedagogical and scientific skills for teaching in 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycles of basic education and in secondary education, bearing in mind the transformations in society, education and in the technological and scientific evolution.
The Master’s degree is four semesters long (120 ECTS).

Specific Admission Requirements:
To be admitted to this master's program, candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree (180 ECTS), with at least 140 ECTS distributed as follows:
- Primary language area (Portuguese): A minimum of 80 ECTS, of which at least 36 ECTS must be in language/linguistics, and the remaining 44 ECTS in literature, culture, and/or linguistics courses.
- Secondary language area (German or Spanish or French or English): A minimum of 60 ECTS, of which at least 36 ECTS must be in foreign language courses, and 24 ECTS in literature, culture, and/or linguistics.
For foreign languages, candidates must provide academic proof, obtained during their bachelor's degree, of the following language proficiency levels based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR): English C1, French C1, Spanish C1, and German B2.
Applications that do not meet the minimum ECTS requirements or the required foreign-language level may be admitted with at least 105 ECTS (60 ECTS in Portuguese and 45 ECTS in the foreign language); the remaining 35 ECTS must be completed during the first year of the master’s programme.
As part of the application process, it is mandatory to submit the result of the Portuguese Language Written Test (PLP) or, alternatively, the ENES record showing the grade obtained in the Portuguese Language Exam taken within the last five years, and to attend an oral interview, scheduled by email by the Master’s Programme Director, in the two languages of the chosen combination; if insufficient language proficiency is identified, the Scientific Committee may require an additional oral and written test.
Comments
Students may only sign up for the Initiation to Professional Practice subject after having been approved in subjects Portuguese Didactics I and II and English / German / Spanish / French Didactics I and II.
