Masters in Medieval and Renaissance Studies

The 2nd cycle in Medieval and Renaissance Studies is a sequence of the Master’s degree in Medieval History (which functioned between 1983 and 1998) and the Integrated Course os Post-Graduate Studies in Medieval History (held since 1999), of the Faculty of Arts. The interest in the study of this period is shown by the fact the mentioned courses took place without interruption since their starts.

The exploration of a vast range of themes, the transmission consistent knowledge, the methodological preparation and the accomplishment of scientific research supervised by experienced teachers correspond to the persistent interest on the study of the Medieval Age, not only by students who have completed a 1st cycle in the Social and Human Sciences area, but also by those who intend to continue their university studies, through a specialization course, and a lifelong education.

The 2nd cycle in Medieval and Renaissance Studies allows the obtention of:

  • Specialization diploma in Medieval and Renaissance History, with a final grade expressed in the 10-20 interval in a 0 to 20 score scale. This course is worth 60 ECTS and it involves the two first semesters of the Master’s degree;
  • Masters in Medieval and Renaissance Studies, worth 120 credits, with the normal length of four semesters.
