This doctoral programme aims at offering an opportunity for advanced training in the field of the Humanities to students interested in exploring the multiple historical, theoretical-critical, ethical and aesthetical connections in the field of Literary, Cultural and Interart Studies. In its multidisciplinarity, the Programme renders visible the different areas of knowledge cultivated at Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto, which thus converge in the offer of innovative training, which gives continuity to research projects long established and to training opportunities verified at the level of both undergraduate and M.A. courses.
The curriculum structure combines solid transversal training in the fields of Literary, Cultural and Interartistic Studies – through the curricular units that are common to all the specialities – with a set of scientific fields relevant to advanced research in the field of Humanities.
Intercultural, diachronic and synchronic research practices provide the guidelines to research and to a hermeneutic reflection, combining tradition and comparison with the diverse thematic and formal manifestations of classic, medieval, modern and contemporary literatures and cultures.
This doctoral programme aims at providing specialized training with a transnational scope adapted to students which are to work in the context of an European and international reality; it thus aspires to harmonize specialization with attention given to intercultural processes.
