This cycle of studies attemps, on the one hand, to potentiate the skills of the teachers involved and, on the other, to adjust these same skills to the MA in Theatre Studies regarding education and research. For this reason a number of curricular units are offered accounting for a variety of dramaturgic and cultural realities, comprehending not only a historic perspective (e.g. Classical Drama, Modern and Contemporary Drama, Theatre in Portugal 1 and 2) but also proposals of contemporaneity (e.g. Dramaturgical Aesthetics, Contemporary Dramaturgy, Stage Practices and Analisys of Drama Performances, Theatre and Theatricality), always from a perspective that takes into consideration both the specifically textual reality and its stage history or potential. Adopting a research, analisys and discussion strategy, curricular units dedicated to the study of the birth and evolution of Greek and Latin tragedy and comedy, of European modern and contemporary dramaturgy and theatre are thus articulated with other units whose main focus comprises more aesthetic, dramaturgic and scénic matters, in order to constantly open a space of problamatization of the rich and complex relations between text and stage, after all, the essence of the scientific field known as Theatre Studies. As it may be observed in the curricular plan of the MA in Theatre Studies, an effort to articulate the main objectives from each curricular unit with the fixed programatic contentes has been carefully developed, in order to establish productive and stimulating relational links between national and international realities or between dramaturgic phenomena and their wider aesthetic inscription.
