Course Description
OBJECTIVES:
The Geography course is essentially aimed at the development of the student’s capacity to fully understand the concept of space in its different dimensions (physical and human). Transversal concepts, such as the environment, territory, planning, natural resources, society and the convergent areas between earth and environmental sciences, social sciences, information technologies and cartography are at the core of the training provided. The course’s objectives are based on three fundamental aspects:
STRUCTURE:
The Geography Department awards the qualification of 'Licenciado' in Geography, and offers the possibility of obtaining a specialisation in Territorial Planning or training for future teachers of Geography (professionalisation in Education).
The course offers a core study plan in the 1st and 2nd years. In the 3rd year, students opt for one of the specialization areas offered: Geography with Territorial Planning; Geography with the necessary training for future Geography teachers; and Geography. In the 4th year of the Geography degree and the Geography degree with specialisation in Territorial Planning, students develop projects in a Project Seminar. The Geography degree with the necessary training for future Geography teachers provides students with access to a postgraduate vocational training course, which includes Teacher Training and a seminar.
