MuSA  Museum Sector Alliance (Mu.SA) - Presentation Flyer

The project Mu.SA: Museum Sector Alliance (http://www.project-musa.eu; https://www.facebook.com/MuseumSectorAlliance) is funded by the European Erasmus + / Sector Skills Alliances and runs from 2016 to 2019.

The Mu.SA aims to contribute to the mitigation of the shortage of digital and transferable skills identified in the museum sector, addressing the growing disconnect between non-formal education and training and the world of work, due to the emergence of new professional profiles in result of the accelerated pace of adoption of Information and Communication Technologies in the museum sector.

The consortium is coordinated by the Hellenic Open University (HOU) - DAISSy Group, Greece, and consists of a network of 12 partners from 4 European countries: Greece, Italy, Belgium and Portugal. In Portugal, it involves: a training company, Mapa das Ideias; an association of museum professionals, ICOM-Portugal; and an Education and Vocational Training organization, the University of Porto, which has the Regional Northern Culture Directorate as an associate partner.

A set of emerging professional role profiles will be built from the competencies identified by the needs analysis and training offerings. For each of them, a curriculum module of Vocational and Education Training will be developed, applying specific methodologies, based on learning outcomes and principles of adult education focused on new approaches of education and development of competences. A repository of Digital Open Educational Resources will be developed to support the acquisition of more than 40 digital and transversal skills. By empowering them, education and training will be offered through an online platform that encourages the sharing and transfer of knowledge, experiences and best practices, namely:
- A Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), aimed at acquiring basic skills of professional profiles;
- A Specialization Course consisting of distance learning, face-to-face sessions and a learning phase in the work context.

Thus, Mu.SA supports the continuous professional development of museum professionals and, through the formation of communities of practice, ensures the sustainability of results beyond the project.

If you are interested in these education and training programmes and want to know more about the project, please visit the website and the Facebook page and contact: phomem@letras.up.pt
