A full-time student enrols in more than 37.5 annual ECTS from 1st, 2nd or 3rd cycle courses. A part-time student enrols in a maximum of 37.5 annual ECTS from 1st, 2nd or 3rd cycle courses. A change from full-time to part-time or vice-versa is permitted as per Order no. GR.11/02/2019 (Amendment to the Regulation for Part-Time Student Regime of the University of Porto).
The attendance in a course of study both in full-time or part-time implies the payment of tuition fees corresponding to the number of credits that students can attain.
Maximum number of registration credits: Students can enrol in a maximum of 75 ECTS in each school year, with a maximum of 42 ECTS per semester, except for first year students, for whom the maximum number of ECTS is 60. Enrolment and registration in up to 81 ECTS is possible in case of completion of a course of study.
As per the Statement (on the progressive enrolment in a study plan), students must enrol in all deferred curricular units before enrolling in curricular units of the current school year. Non-compliance with this rule will lead to the suspension of enrolment until the situation is resolved. Enrolment in single curricular units in a Foreign Language outside the Study Plan is not included within the ECTS limit for the school year in question.

A student whose status has lapsed but who intends to continue their studies must submit a one-time application for reinstatement in the same course of study. In part-time regime, only 0.5 points will be accounted, regardless of the number of credits students have registered for. Student-workers are exempt. Students may check their lapsing status in FLUP’s portal, on their personal area.
