The Research Management & Science Communication HUB (REMA) aims to support the Research & Development Units of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto (FLUP) by consultancy and technical assistance in research management and science communication activities.

Vision: FLUP researchers conduct excellent research in Social Sciences and Humanities allowing them to pursue, maintain and enhance their competitive research funding. The FLUP research ecosystem has the potential to contribute with the public policies, the economic sector and the scientific culture of the society.

Description:
REMA, based at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto (FLUP), is a functional unit of the research area focused on science and technology management and science communication for the research community of FLUP.

In the field of science and technology management, REMA collaborates at different stages of the funding applications process. In this sense, it disseminates science funding opportunities, supports the selection of the most suitable call for each project, and provides advice from the project's formulation to the analysis and assessment of the application ready to be submitted. REMA also offers training sessions to the FLUP scientific community and gives support in the search for partners from both academic and non-academic spheres.

In the science communication sphere, REMA stimulates the dissemination, exploitation and transfer of knowledge generated by FLUP's R&D Units. REMA contributes to the design of science communication plans for the valorisation of the results of research projects and provides information resources to maximize the research quality indicators.

REMA also promotes the dynamisation of internal and external communication channels, aiming to expand the collaboration at FLUP, U. Porto and society level.

REMA is funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) under the contract-program CEECINST/00130/2018 to support the development of scientific and technological activity.

REMA focuses its activities on the FLUP research community in conjunction with R&D Units and has as main objectives:

  1. Boosting national and international funding opportunities from both public and private sources by disseminating funding opportunities and contributing for the establishment of partnership networking. REMA also provides advice throughout the elaboration and submission of project applications for competitive fundings
  2. Strengthening the visibility and impact scientific knowledge generated at FLUP, in academic and non-academic environments, including the reinforcement of science communication.
  3. Assisting researchers in improving their knowledge and skills regarding science management and communication through continuous information, training and content marketing;
  4. Enhancing synergies among the R&D units, collaborating with the directive board, research-related services, and encouraging interdisciplinary projects.
  5. Developing quality research and participating in Third Mission activities by its researchers.
