Objectives
The objectives are to:
•define and characterise tourism as a part of land management, and also contribute to increasing and consolidating knowledge of the geographical approaches to tourism, essentially to the relationship amongst cultural, social, economic, political or environment features.
•identify the meaning of tourism in the societies today especially concerning the changes occurring in local behaviours, with particular emphasis on the Portuguese situation, highlighting the meaning and the role of tourism in the process of development and its effect on territorial structure.
Learning outcomes and competences
Successful students will be able to:

IC7 – Compare processes, mechanisms and territorial results of a changing situation.
IT3 – Interpret information correctly and carefully in comparing it with other already available and credible information , raising hypotheses and outlining suggestions for their validation.
IL1 – Express themselves in their mother tongue, both in oral and written form with correctness, accuracy and fluency, being transparent as a sender and alert/flexible as a receiver.

Teaching methods and learning activities
Lessons with exposition; participation of the students and document analysis. The evaluation method is constituted by a written test with diverse optional questions and the analysis of an subject chosen with the students.

Eligibility for exams
One test and a practical assignment.
Calculation formula of final grade
Test - 50%; practical work - 40%; oral skills and participation - 10%.
Examinations or Special Assignments
Students must do:
1) group work on a national scale, involving the collection and processing of information, writing a report and its oral presentation (50% of the assessment). This work must be developed with the supervision of the teaching staff.
2) In terms of individual assessment, a written test will be carried out (50% of the assessment).
Special assessment (TE, DA, ...)
Practical work is carried out in groups and throughout the semester's classes. In this case, the student only takes a theoretical test in the special assessment.
If the student was unable to complete the practical work, they will have to take a theoretical-practical exam.
Classification improvement
Only in the test score can there be an improvement in classification.
