Objectives

a)Provide students with knowledge about the housing system and policies in Portugal and in the context of the European Union; 
b) Justify the importance of the national economies and residential real estate in the assets of families and communities;  c) Justify the need of housing policy as a general framework for action; 
d) Interpret the housing policy in the context of public policy, developing a critical attitude;
e) Justify the need for public intervention in the different market segments, identifying the reasons and objectives; 
f) Analyze the problems of housing in territorial plans;
 g) Evaluate different programmes/measures of housing policies, identifying the main successes and failures.

Learning outcomes and competences

 a) Collect, process, represent and interpret data allowing identification of the housing problems;
b) To assess the housing needs of different scales;
c) Develop autonomy in research and self-learning.
