Objectives

The description of the theoretical background of phonetics, phonology, prosody and syntax of the German language, as well as its explanation, makes students aware of certain language features of the language.

The aspects listed in the syllabus will be explored in detail, so that students are aware of the specifics of the German language which have revealed as more problematic for Portuguese learners.

Learning outcomes and competences

- Acquisition of a greater sensitivity to the perception of the phonemes of the German language;

- Acquisition of the ability to pronounce the phonemes of the German language.

- Ability to read a text highlighting syntactic features of sentences, ie, making the breaks at the right times;

- Ability to identify actants and circunstants  of German senteces;

- Ability to construct grammatically correct sentences, respecting the valence of German verbs.

Teaching methods and learning activities

Lessons will be partially expositive during the presentation of the theoretical background referred in the program.

The various phonetic, phonological, prosodic and syntactical parameters will be exemplified by the teacher and repeated by students, in several kinds of exercises using didactic oriented audio material.
As for syntax, after the exposition of the theoretical contents, students will have to produce exercises of identification of the various types of phrases, as well of sentence production according to a given sentence construction plan.

Great importance is given to the training exercises made by students.
