Objectives

1. Raise awareness of the importance of multidisciplinary studies on the Territory and Urban Space;
2. Understand, apply and discuss the concept(s) of Place, Space, Territory and Landscape, promoting their analysis and interpretations in the light of Art History, Heritage Studies and Visual Culture;
3. Learn to interpret the image in its iconographic context;
4. Understand the relationship between image, architecture, liturgy and devotion;
5. Identify supports, materials and techniques in the production and uses of the Image;
6. Understand, identify and relate the forms, meanings and transformations of sacred spaces in different historical-artistic contexts;
7. Relate image, devotion and liturgy.

Learning outcomes and competences

- Contribute to the acquisition of tools on the subject through the study of documentary and visual sources, their analysis and interpretation.
- Develop skills in analyzing and interpreting the Image in its artistic, devotional and territorial contexts, starting from the City of Porto as a case study.
