Objectives

This course unit intends to outline a political, economic, social and cultural panorama of Germany from the beginning of the 19th century to the second half of the 20th century.

By the end of the semester the students will know which events and personalities were most relevant in the political, economic, social and cultural history of Germany in the 19th and the first half of the 20th centuries. Such wide and multifaceted knoledge will enable the students to develop a critical perspective and a contextualizing approach to the human facts.

Simultaneously, through a critical and contextualized reading of short texts representing the aesthetic-literary movements from the 19th to the second half of the 20th centuries, students will develop literary analysis and interpretation skills and acquire a comparative perspective of the literary phenomenon.

Learning outcomes and competences
