Objectives

(Dieses Fach richtet sich an Studierende, die im Rahmen ihres Studiums Deutsch als Fremdsprache lernen. Da der Spracherwerb explizit im Mittelpunkt steht, richtet sich dieses Fach nicht an Muttersprachler.)

In this course students will:

- acquire and develop the necessary language skills to express themselves in German with greater fluency, in different communicative situations, orally and in written texts;

- practice oral production, improving fluency and phonetics, through the presentation of papers and participation in discussions in class;

- acquire and develop the ability to express opinions and acquire specific vocabulary for expressing themselves in different communicative situations;

- acquire the competence to distinguish the characteristics of different types of text in German, in reception as in production; acquire greater grammatical competence by deepening selected aspects of German grammar, lexicology and phraseology to be focused as it turns out to be necessary for the production of certain texts;

- acquire autonomy in consultation of support materials and develop research and presentation techniques.

Learning outcomes and competences

At the end of the semester, students must be able to recognise the different types of texts, and to produce them according to certain formal criteria.

Program

This course intends to practice and improve communication skills in German, both orally and in written texts. Students will have the opportunity to practice oral communication through paper presentations and interactive oral communication, participating in group discussions on different issues of German-speaking countries. The written expression will be enhanced by writing different types of text. Depending on the needs of students, these texts are, for example,: description, summary, commentary, personal and official letter, email and academic paper.

Students will achieve the competence to produce in German language, in a correct and adequate manner, different types of texts they will need both in their academic career and in their professional future.

The different learning material will be delievered by the teacher.

Teaching methods and learning activities

Practical classes with various teaching strategies in which students are expected to work individually or in a group, to use materials indicated by the teacher and to do research in the library and on the internet. Great emphasis is given on active participation by students.
