Awareness and understanding of the policy and the regional planning model in Portugal

Awareness and applying the territorial planning as a policy instrument for operationalizing sustainable development

Teaching methods and learning activities

Teaching methodologies selected for the UC aim to meet the training needs of students. The theoretical and practical component intended to address the program's content, implying participation and responsability of the students in the learning process through extended discussions,  reflection on the theoretical contents, acquisition of concepts amd methods.  In practical classes are used expository methodologies, participatory and collaborative, using the discussion-oriented reflection and use of GIS.;

- Tutorial sessions for personalized guidance;

- Conferences delivered by experts developing their professional activity on the spatial planning;

- Studying  visit to the planning department of a municipality of the Porto Metropolitan Area;

- Conducting research work in spatial planning on a municipality of the Porto Metropolitan Area.

To obtain a positive grade, the student must have a minimum grade of 7.5 in each component (in a scale from 0 to 20).

The evaluation component called "Test" includes a written test helds  on December 17th and reports which will be required to the  students in the theoretical component of the program.

Examinations or Special Assignments

The student workers  who do not have availability to attend classes, to obtain approval at UC will have to do:
1-a practical report which will be accompanied by the teachers of UC according to a previously agreed plan meetings by both parties;
2 Final exam.

The students unable to perform some or all of the evaluation activities  assessed in the final examination, which may include oral examination.
