Objectives

By the end of C1.1 (5th semester English Language) the students should be able to do the following:

1. Follow abstract argumentation in spoken and written English, for example the balancing of alternatives and the drawing of a conclusion.
2. Keep up conversations of a casual nature for an extended period of time.
3. Skim and scan reading texts quickly enough to cope with the demands of an academic course, including understanding complex opinions/arguments expressed in serious articles.
4. Research and write an academic essay which shows ability to communicate, giving few difficulties to the reader.
5. Participate actively and effectively in classes and Tutorial Discussion groups .
