Objectives

The aim of the seminar is to offer a diachronic panorama of the main theoretical models for literary translation. The focus is on the most recent models, so that students will acquire the knowledge to proceed, in the following semester, onto a founded description and evaluation of translated literary texts.

Program

1. The most representative aspects related to the reflection of translation up to the beginning of the 20th century.
2. The development of translation studies in the second half of the 20th century.
3. The main tendencies in the contemporary panorama and their interdisciplinary dimension.
