Objectives
To understand the background of the Eastern Mediterranean in the 2nd millennium b.C.
To name the several peoples who contributed for the Eastern Mediterranean’s development.
To explain the contribution of the Cretan and the Mycenaean for the formation of the Greek “homeland”;
To evaluate the importance of Homeric poems;
To understand the geo-strategic background in the genesis of the Greek poleis;
To explain the rivalry between Spartans and Athenians;
To understand the Aegean mentality’s transformation process;
To explain how the political evolution which led to the Athenian democracy was processed;
To evaluate the governmental capacity of certain Athenian politicians;
To evaluate the evolution of Greek’s artistic and cultural sense throughout History.
