Main Bibliography

Varied, according to the class grades lectured by the trainee and specific problems/difficulties encountered.

Complementary Bibliography

See previous item.

Teaching methods and learning activities

(Teaching) and learning is based on observation/discussion of classes taught, the planning and teaching of classes and other school activities, and, particularly, critical/grounded reflection on situations experienced throughout the academic year.

Software

Depends on the resources available at each school.

Evaluation Type

Distributed evaluation without final exam

Eligibility for exams

Compliance with at least 75% of assigned duties (academic and others).

Calculation formula of final grade

Evaluation is based on an Assessment Reference List ("Referencial de Avaliação"), approved each year by Methodologists and Supervisors, provided to all trainees at the beginning of the Training year.

It comprises each one of the evaluation criteria mentioned in item Evaluation Components, and which are subdivided into indicators. For each of the 40 indicators there are four levels of achievement.
The final classification results from the assessment of all levels, according to the following criteria:
- commitment
- quality (geographic and didactic knowledge)
- adequacy (to National Teaching Guidelines and to local specificities and regulations)
- systematization
- originality
- autonomy
Based on the "Referencial de Avaliação", which, and after hearing the trainees (self- and co-evaluation), supervisors should come to a common agreement about each trainee’s profile. If this is not possible, each supervisor (from the school and from the faculty) will each attribute the classification they consider most appropriate and the average of both determines the final mark.

Examinations or Special Assignments

Only in special circumstances may specific tests be requested, but they can only be considered on a case-to-case basis, and according to the reasons presented.

Special assessment (TE, DA, ...)

Not applicable.

Classification improvement

Not foreseen.

Observations

The school supervisor should:
* prepare, together with the trainees, the training group’s activity plan in connection with the school’s activity and vocational training plans;
* supervise and assist trainees in planning their teaching activities;
* observe trainees’ performance during their teaching activities and, when analyzing it, do so constructively, from a formative and continuous training perspective. The supervisor should attend a minimum of 15 classes, more or less evenly distributed throughout the three academic terms, or, attend more classes during the 1st and 2nd terms. Those attending classes should comment on them and a record should be kept.
* promote students’ general culture and their pedagogic-didactic performance, both individually and in group activities and sessions;
* evaluate and classify the trainees.

The Faculty Supervisor should:
* organize and coordinate the pedagogic traineeship;
* supervise and assist the activities developed by school supervisors and trainees.
* observe trainees’ performance during their teaching activities and, when analyzing it, do so constructively, from a formative and continuous training perspective. The supervisor should attend a minimum of 3 classes per trainee, one each academic term; analyze and comment on the trainee’s planning and evaluation documents.
* evaluate and classify the trainees.
