Instance: 2005/2006 - 1S
Cycles of Study/Courses
Objectives
The primary objective of this subject is to offer students a comprehensive corpus of knowledge on the key concepts related to mass communication and, especially, to the role of the mass media within society. The multiplicity of the existing mass media theories will be addressed in class and, at the same time, students will be encouraged to develop their critical skills as regards the mass media.
Program
The subject programme involves an approach to the main theoretical currents related to the study of mass communication and to how research on the mass media evolved in the course of time. We shall seek to systematically complement the theoretical approach with the analysis and discussion of present-day issues.
